Kimia Ziafat (She/Her)
President
Kimia is a medical student studying at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver Fraser campus. She is passionate about women’s health and empowering women in her community. In her free time, Kimia enjoys dancing, spending time with family and friends, spoiling her little dog, and watching Modern Family on repeat.
Jasmine Memar-Zadeh (She/Her)
Co-Director of Education
Jasmine is a second year medical student at the UBC VFMP campus. She is passionate about advocating for women’s health and empowering women through education. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her loved ones, painting, and taking care of her plants. She is excited to work alongside this team of inspiring women.
Anna de Waal
Co-Director of Education
Anna is a second-year medical student at UBC VFMP and a CWI Education Co-Director. She is passionate about advocating for women’s health equity and supporting initiatives that co-create solutions to health challenges at the grassroots level. With an MSc in Public Health from McGill, her research interests are in HIV epidemiology, women’s health, and improving access to primary care. She loves being in nature, running, and creating linocut prints whenever she can.
Julia Askew
Director of Communication
Julia is a medical student at the University of British Columbia. She is passionate about mental health and providing medical care and education to vulnerable populations, particularly women. She enjoys playing volleyball, running, and cooking for friends and family in her free time.
Christie Zhang (She/Her)
Director of Infographics & Awareness
Christie is a medical student at University of British Columbia. She has a background in public health, and is keen in contributing to a future of equity for all women. In her spare time, she enjoys binging shows and being a couch potato. She looks forward to an exciting year of working with an amazing team at CWI!
Adrianna Paiero
Co-Director of Fundraising & Treasury
Adrianna is a second-year medical student at UBC VFMP and is one of our Co-Directors of Fundraising. CWI's mission resonated deeply with Adrianna who believes that every woman deserves access to equity, opportunity, and safety; regardless of circumstances. In her free time, she enjoys long hikes with her down and testing out new recipes in the kitchen.
Amelia Tjoa
Co-Director of Fundraising & Treasury
Amelia is a second-year medical student at the UBC Vancouver campus. She is passionate about women’s health and is excited to work with the team to organize community events, raise funds and collect donations to benefit women’s shelters and promote menstrual equity. In her spare time, she loves to crochet stuffies and bake sweets to share with friends!
Lauren Yearwood
Co-Director of Fundraising & Treasury
Lauren is a medical student studying at the UBC Island Medical Program in Victoria. She got involved in fundraising events in Victoria and is excited to continue and expand these events across the province. Lauren is passionate about women’s health and is excited to work with local communities to organize events that empower women and gather funds and donations for Women’s Shelters. In her free time you can find Lauren exploring nature, going for a run along the water, and cozy on the couch with a book.
